Accessibility Statement
I acknowledge that some users may have visual impairment, cognitive disabilities, reduced motor function, and other types of disabilities or limitations. I am dedicated to creating an online environment that is accessible to as many users as possible and have therefore designed this site with equity in mind. I have consulted the National Center on Disability and Access to Education (NCDAE) for their guidance on how to create an equitable site. I have also used the WAVE Tool to help identify some areas of concern. After reviewing these resources, I have developed this site with the following considerations in mind:
- PDF download option. The projects on this site have been arranged as individual, downloadable document. This may help users who use screen readers or prefer a linear/condensed reading style. However, these documents include static screenshots of otherwise interactive charts.
- Heading arrangement. Each web page uses a hierarchical heading structure to help with readability, direction, and context.
- Color contrast. Black text is printed on a white background for enhanced visibility. When color is used as a background, the accompanying text is rendered appropriately.
- Not relying on color alone. The charts and diagrams on this site are captioned and their meaning expressed in written form.
- Lowest common denominator file formats. Downloadable resources are presented in file formats that don't require proprietary software for access.
- Mobile optimization. The material on my site are accessible through a mobile browser, with the exception of some HTML-embedded charts. I am working to fix this.
While these basic principles have been deployed, there are still elements of this site that may prevent challenges for some users.
I welcome feedback on how I might improve access to this site. Use the "Contact" tab in the top right corner to reach out to me, or click here.
