Advising History
Professor Jean-François Blanchette has been my advisor since I began the MLIS program. We
met formally every quarter in order to discuss academic interests and progress towards the
degree. These formal meetings are documented below.
Professor Blanchette and I would also meet frequently in a more informal capacity to check in with one another. The focus of our conversations was always geared towards how I could better prepare myself for a future career. I appreciate the practical guidance that he always gave me, as I feel it better enabled me to achieve academic success.
Esther Grassian and Maja Manojlovic are two other individuals who kindly offered themselves as informal mentors during my career at UCLA. Esther's kind spirit and willingness to proofread my materials was invaluable. Maja's guidance and encouragement to pursue digital humanities projects empowered me to dig deeper into the technological landscape of academia. I am truly grateful that I had the opportunity to learn from Esther's and Maja's valuable insights.
There is one last mentor I'd like to acknowledge. Her unbelievably positive spirit and constant
encouragement kept me afloat in the darkest moments of this masters program. Andrea
Gambino, as a friend, mentor, and colleague completely impacted my experience at UCLA.
Although all of my mentors deserve special thanks, Andrea needs honorary mention. I hope that
this brief remark will suffice and give praise where it is due.
